How Many Times Can A Disc Be Repaired?

Disc Repair

Last Update: 23/12/2010

Naturally this depends on how deeply scratched the CD is each time but from new, a CD with medium damage can be repaired 30-40 times depending on the nature and severity of damage, foil damage from either side constitutes permanent damage. DVD’s are constructed to different specifications (guidelines specified by ERMA and ISO and adhered to by all disc manufacturers) and can only be repaired half as many times as conventional CD’s. DVD data is stored on either 1 or 2 layers (dual layered) in between two protective polycarbonate housings, reducing the amount of plastic protecting the data layer that can be resurfaced. Whether your CD or DVD is scratched, using Reface Industries to maintain your disc library will substantially increase the longevity and overall life of the disc, not to mention reduce the amount of issues and headaches from various repair machines/techniques available.
